Paul McCartney: “Mother Nature’s Son”

Released by The Beatles on The White Album, this song was written by Paul McCartney in 1968 with some help from John Lennon. The song was inspired by a lecture entitled “Mother Nature’s Son” given by the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi while The Beatles were in India. The same lecture inspired John to write his never-released song “Child of Nature” (see next video) – a tune which Lennon released later, with entirely new lyrics, as “Jealous Guy.” Here is the original release (including some photos of Paul in India), and a later live performance by Paul in Dallas, Texas.
